A controversial movie executive produced by Angelina Jolie has finally been granted a US release date a year after an injunction banning its broadcast was lifted.
Difret, which tells the story of a female lawyer fighting the Ethiopian tradition of girls being abducted for marriage, wowed critics when it was first unveiled last year and scooped the prestigious Audience Awards at both the Berlin International Film Festival and the Sundance Film Festival.
However, it then ran into difficulties when officials in Ethiopia banned the movie over its depiction of the real life lawyer it focuses on, but the injunction was lifted in September.
Now Difret producers have announced the film will be released in US cinemas on October 23, according to New York Post.
